Full Time Veterinarian

Highland Animal Hospital is a 1.5 doctor practice with a support staff of 13 including 3 veterinary nurses. We are a full-service veterinary medical facility, located in Highland, Indiana just a 25 minute drive to The Dunes National Lakeshore and a 40 minute drive to the Chicago LoopWe primarily provide care for dogs and cats. If you have an interest in exotic and/or avian medicine there is a need for an experienced veterinarian in that field. Our hospital is equipped with IDEXX in-house laboratory equipment, surgical laser, digital radiology, dental radiology, Ezyvet Software, tonometry, blood pressure unit, and surgical suite.

We are seeking a full time veterinarian. While an experienced veterinarian is preferred, a new graduate would definitely be welcomed.

Because we do no retail sales, the highly professional and experienced staff are concerned strictly with the care of the pets and the concerns of their owners. Roughly half of the staff has been with us for more than 15 years. They work very hard. We strive to offer excellence in veterinary care for Highland, Northwest Indiana, and the Chicagoland area.

Employment Sign On Bonus – $10,000

Salary: $100,000 – $135,000

Pay scale is based on a commission greater than 25% of gross production with a generous baseline salary for a starting doctor.

Part Time Kennel Attendant

We are now accepting applications for a Part-Time Kennel Attendant
Must be available 8AM-6PM Monday & Wednesday, Friday 3PM-6PM AND Saturday 7:30AM – 12PM.  Some days you may be required to stay a little beyond your shift until appointments are finished for the day.  Occasional holiday coverage may be required.
Experience working with animals required.
-Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Feed, walk, and provide daily care of boarding and hospitalized pets
-Record keeping and documentation of pets in our care
-Clean and disinfect cages, runs, food bowls, water bowls, and litter
boxes
-Utilize washer and dryer to clean laundry
-Bathe boarding pets before they go home
-Administer medications as directed by veterinarian
-Attention to detail is a must.  Recognize and report any abnormalities observed including changes in urination/bowel movement or eating habits
-Sweep and mop kennel, treatment room, and surgical suite
-Pet waste cleanup in yard
-Empty garbage cans
-Assist veterinarians and technicians utilizing proper animal restraint techniques
-Ability to lift and carry over 40lbs

Part Time Veterinary Assistant

We are now accepting applications for an Experienced Part-Time
Veterinary Assistant
Availability Wednesdays 8AM – 6PM, Fridays 2PM – 6PM, and Saturdays
7:30AM – 12PM required. Shifts may vary with potential for full-time hours
in the future. Some days you may be required to stay a little beyond your
shift until appointments are finished for the day. Occasional holiday/
weekend coverage may be required.
Experience working with animals required.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Assist veterinarians and technicians utilizing proper animal restraint
techniques
-Administer medications & injections as directed by veterinarian
-Perform patient nail trims and anal sac expressions
-Draw blood for lab testing
-Accurately identify parasites under a microscope from fecal samples
-Perform in-house laboratory testing as needed (IDEXX Machines)
-Feed, walk, and provide daily care of boarding and hospitalized pets
-Record keeping and documentation of pets in our care
-Clean and disinfect cages, runs, food bowls, water bowls, and litter
boxes
-Stocking supplies
-Acquiring radiographs as requested by veterinarian
-Laundry and emptying garbage cans
-Bathe boarding pets before they go home
-Attention to detail is a must. Recognize and report any abnormalities
observed including changes in urination/bowel movement or eating habits
-Sweep and mop kennel, treatment room, and surgical suite
-Pet waste cleanup in yard
-Ability to lift and carry over 40lbs
